TC covers

1. thumbnails. i decide early on that big floating heads are a sure compositional win. everyone likes big floating heads.



2. intermission. at this point i realize i can't draw any of the backgrounds i set myself up for. cue research (incl colour studies of two screen grabs from atonement, one of which i ended up carrying through to the final piece)



3. backgrounds.  now i can draw english fields and nondescript rubble ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 




4. time to add in floating heads. i erase and mist out half the backgrounds when i realize the elements in them are going to clash with the floating heads.

c'est la vie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

(i also briefly consider making the heads kiss)




5. colour, plus lauries. (he's sort of important.)



6. text. voila!

Thank you so very much. Laurie in Mrs. Chiver orchard thinking about Andrew is lovely. Laurie holding Andrew's letter about the "Ralph" letter while looking though the rubble for Andrew's house was a chapter that left me aching for both of them, because they didn't know the truth and couldn't see each other. I wish they had been able to meet and Andrew described the man who visited him so Laurie would know it wasn't Ralph after all. Of course, the story would have been different. These are the kind of characters that stay in my mind, with all the what ifs. Thank fanwriters and artists for continuing the story for me. Have you seen the YouTube 'trailer' of the Charioteer? It was made by fans from different movie scenes, but it was lovely. Ralph wasn't blond, but the kiss curls my sock. I hope you find the link and see it. If you do, please give your opinion.

It always seems such a pity that the professional covers aren't a patch on the ones that fans do. These are lovely.

Hahaha, I was about to comment 'The color palettes really remind me of Atonement'. I think we have different visual impressions of TC, though. A lot of it gives me the sense of rooms in old houses -- yellowing wallpaper and dim light, that sort of musty, closed-in feeling.
